service dog

At Ashley's K9 Training we will provide you with guidance, every step of the way.

  • Psychiatric Medical Alert, Response & Recovery
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Scent Training
  • Veteran Support

Under the ADA, a service animal is defined as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability. The task(s) performed by the dog must be directly related to the person's disability.

What is a Service Dog?

Service Dogs & Disabilities We Assist Include:

  • Mobility support
  • Medical Alert, Response & Recovery
  • Diabetic Alert, Response & Recovery
  • Anxiety Alert, Response & Recovery

  • Our dogs are required a minimum of 120 hours of hands on instruction over a period of 6 months. A minimum of 30 of these hours will be devoted to outings in a public setting to condition the dog to respond obediently in all environments. The majority of our dogs go through a 1-2 year service dog training program.
  • All service dogs in our program must pass the Ashley's K9 Training Public Access Test and a specific task related test. Ashley’s K9 Training also requires our clients/handlers to pass a verbal or written test on service dog laws, dog handling commands and cues, speaking with the public about their dog and basic medical care for their dog.

Ashley’s K9 Training Would Love the Opportunity to Assist You in Your Training Goals!

*A consultation must take place prior to booking any training services.

Program Criteria:

  • A letter of recommendation from a licensed medical professional to the client directly indicating the need for a trained serviced dog, including the medical reasoning for this need.
  • One of our trainers must evaluate your dog should you elect to enroll an existing pet that you own. Your dog must pass our behavioral evaluation and service dog testing criteria in order to be accepted into our service dog-training program. If you have not chosen a dog yet, Ashley’s K9 Training can assist in the process of acquiring a dog that will fit your needs specifically.

"Ashley is amazing! I would recommend her for all your training needs whether if be for puppy, service or behavioral corrections. She is patient but tough and even more, she gets results. She's been training our puppy as a service dog and I still can't believe how educated and dedicated Ashley is. Our puppy is spastic so it's been a long process but the results speak for themselves. You won't regret giving Ashley a try!"

Kelly McGhie

"Ashley was very attentive to my specific requests, had clear and concise instructions on how to work with my dog on our unique issues, and gave me some tools to turn frustration into success! Highly recommended!"

Jennifer Fowler

"Ashley is a phenomenal trainer! She really takes the time to understand your dog and what your goals are. I have boarded my dog with her multiple times and couldn't have felt more comfortable doing so. I have a 3-year old Doberman, Roxy, and have put a lot of time, energy and money into her obedience training, so I was very picky with who I was comfortable boarding my dog. Even now, after moving from TX to SC Ashley is still going above and beyond making sure she is reaching out to all potential dog trainers in the area that would be a good fit for me and Roxy. Thank you, Ashley–we already miss you!"

Joy Goldschmidt

“Ashley is very professional & patient with not only our dogs, but with us. We have learned training involves teaching us how to effectively communicate with our dogs. We highly recommend Ashley’s K9 Training program. We trust her 110% with our dogs any day!”
